During April's Minute-for-Mission, Community Center for Immigrants (CCI) Exectuive Director Caitlyn Lewis interpreted the important work CCI does to help local immigrants navigate the federal immigration system. By offering supportive services under one roof, CCI helps people secure their legal status, continue their education, access better jobs, and move forward with greater stability. In five years, CCI has served more than 2,500 immigrants, worked with over 600 students,
Immanuel is providing evening meals for guests at the Cathedral Center Shelter for Women and Families every quarter this year. The next dates are Sunday, May 17; Monday, May 18; and Tuesday, May 19. To volunteer, sign up for a particular date and menu item, prepare the food in your home, and deliver the meal to the center where the staff will serve it. Immanuel's "Habitat Team" invites you to help build this year's Presbyterian Coalition Habitat for Humanity Home. This year's home is at 1236 N. 24th Street and there are two upcoming opporutnities to help: Saturday, May 16 (8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) - wall panelizing at the Habitat warehouse; and Saturday, June 6 (8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) - for framing at the home site.
