Growing in Faith at Every Age

Baptism sets us on a journey of faith that lasts our whole lives.
At Immanuel, opportunities for faith formation are offered for all ages. Whether you're three or ninety-three, there's always more to discover about God, yourself, and what it means to live faithfully in downtown Milwaukee and beyond.

Children and youth are a gift to the church and a sign of our commitment to sharing a life of faith together with disciples of all ages. As an intergenerational church, all ages have a place to belong in worship.
From September through May, children from age 3 through 12th grader start worship with everyone else, then head downstairs to the Peaceable Kingdom for Church School around 10:30. They're not just learning Bible stories (though those are pretty great) - they're figuring out what it means to love God and love their neighbors.
Caregivers are always welcome to join Church School. Immanuel is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for all. Learn more about our Protection Plan for
Children and Youth.

For the Little Ones
Got babies or toddlers? We've got childcare every Sunday from 9:30 AM to noon in the Nursery downstairs. Want to stay with your little one during worship? There's a Care Corner in the back of the sanctuary and a "crying room" on the second floor with sight and sound of the service.

Youth Ministry
Youth ministry at Immanuel is all about creating connections between God, one another, and the world around us. Youth in grades 7th-12th gather each month to respond to God’s love through worship, study, service, and play!
What Youth Do:
-
Mission projects around Milwaukee and beyond
-
Week-long mission trips that'll change how you see the world
-
Conversations about faith, life, and everything in between
-
Building friendships with other youth and adult leaders
Confirmation
Students in 10th and 11th grade are invited to participate in confirmation, a nine-month exploration of faith, life, and church membership. It’s designed for older youth to focus on belief, values, and identity. Confirmation classes begin in September.
This isn't about memorizing the right answers. It's about asking honest questions and discovering what faith means for your life.

For the Whole Family
On the Second Sunday of each month, we do something special to involve parents, grandparents, and caregivers in faith formation so that families can grow in faith together. Join us for an upcoming workshop, service project, or field trip!
Adult Faith Formation
No matter our age, we always learning to walk and live in God’s ways of love and justice.
At every step, there are questions. Where am we headed? What decisions do we make? How do we use our gifts for the good of the community? How does our faith call us to respond? Adult faith formation at Immanuel gives us space to wrestle with these questions together, gaining wisdom and insight along the way.
We don't shy away from the hard topics.
Our adult education program has tackled environmental concerns, gun violence, racial justice, urban housing challenges, transforming family structures, and disaster relief. If it matters in the world, it matters in our faith conversations.
We also dive deep into matters of faith and church life - biblical studies that make the ancient text come alive, the stories behind our hymns, religious art that moves us, understanding the church year's rhythms, church history that shapes our present, and wrestling with contemporary theological questions that don't have easy answers.
And then there's the personal stuff - the transitions we all face. We talk about grief and loss, forming values that guide us, navigating life's major transitions, the challenges of parenting, and what it means to age with grace. All of it through the lens of faith, all of it in community.
Education offerings are lead by Immanuel ministers, church members, and leaders from across the city. We invite community leaders who are on the front lines of issues we care about. Learning happens best when we hear from diverse voices.
Join us as we grow in faith.
Adult education offerings are regularly held on Sunday mornings following worship. Weekly seasonal offerings are held virtually and in-person during the week. Check the community calendar for more information!
