About the event
On Christmas Eve 1951, the first opera written for television was premiered. Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors tells the tale of a peasant boy’s encounter with the Magi. Rev. David Perkins has been involved in over 10 productions and will lead an introduction to this work. During this special “preview” conversation to the choir’s concert performance on December 14, we will also look at the biblical, historical, artistic, and folklore aspects of the mysterious Magi.
