About the event
On Wednesday evenings during Lent we will gather at tables in our common church home for a simple supper of soup and bread at 6:00, followed by a brief service of evening prayer and the Lord’s Supper around the tables. After supper and table worship, we’ll share in table conversation and learning together.
Tonight's theme: Testimony in Dialogue + “Argument for the Sake of Heaven”
Rabbi Abby Phelps is a Jewish educator and the Associate Rabbi at Congregation Shalom in Fox Point. She will lead a conversation on “argument for the sake of heaven,” one of Judaism’s noblest ideals and a way of seeking conflict resolution by honoring both sides and employing humility in the pursuit of truth. The ideal centers constructive debate to discover the truth rather than winning or gaining personal honor.
