About the event

This October marks 70 years since the Rev. Dr. Margaret Towner was the first woman ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). In celebration of this milestone anniversary, Rev. Larson and Immanuel’s Pastor Emerita, Dr. Deborah Block, will host a conversation in the Upper Room following worship reflecting on Dr. Towner’s pioneering story that made a way for over 7,000 clergywomen to answer their call to ministry in the PC(USA). The conversation will also feature a video about Dr. Towner shared with the General Assembly last June. The clergywomen who worship with Immanuel from all denominations will also be recognized.
