Matthew’s Gospel tells of “the very large crowd” that greeted Jesus as he entered Jerusalem on a colt, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Matthew (21:8-9)
