The journey from baptism to confirmation calls us to:
Equip families and educators to teach the stories and values of our faith, foster a sense of belonging, and nurture love of God and neighbor,
Engage children and youth through worship and study to explore the Christian faith and inquire about its meaning for them,
Empower our youth to live a life faithful to Jesus Christ through their choice and actions in a world much larger than their own. ~Christian Education Mission Statement
Church School for Children and Youth
in the Peaceable Kingdom (lower level)
Email Associate Pastor Teresa Larson (teresalarson@immanuelwi.org), for more information

Church School: All children and youth ages 3-12th grade are welcome! Church School is in session from early September through late May in the Peaceable Kingdom (lower level). Children and youth worship with the church community for the first half of the service. Classes meet from roughly 10:30-11:30.
Sunday Morning Childcare: Child care for infants and toddlers is provided each Sunday from 9:3-noon in the Nursery (lower level). A "Care Corner" in the back of the Sanctuary is available for parents with small children who prefer an alternate space during worship. There is also a “crying room” on the second floor that offers sight and sound of the Sanctuary.
Multi-Generational Celebrations
There are four special celebrations in the Church School each year:

The ADVENT WORKSHOP (first Sunday of Advent) is for all members of the church family. Participants celebrate the meanings of the season by making Advent wreaths to mark the weeks of Advent at home, and enjoying other seasonal activities. Click here for photos from past Advent Workshops.
A PALM SUNDAY PROCESSION AND UPPER ROOM MEAL enacts the events of Holy Week and involves children and their parents in a first-century experience of telling stories about Jesus and learning about the origins of the Lord’s Supper. Click here for photos from past Upper Room Meals.
CREATION SUNDAY in the spring celebrates God’s good creation and highlights how children of all ages are called to care for the earth. Click here for photos from past Creation Sundays.
The program year ends with a PENTECOST PARTY, celebrating the “birthday” of the church and the baptism of each child. Click here for photos from past Pentecost Parties.

Family Engagement
Special monthly events are scheduled (usually on the second Sunday of each month) for parents, grandparents, and caregivers to engage with Immanuel's ministries for children and youth. Gatherings include parent workshops, service projects, special guests, and field trips.
The Church School library in the Peaceable Kingdom offers a variety of picture books for families to check out and enjoy.
Caregivers are always welcome to join their children for Church School! Immanuel is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for all. Learn more about our Protection Plan for Children and Youth.

Youth Opportunities
Students in 7th-12th grade enjoy special projects, outings, and programs throughout the year. Youth regularly participate in mission projects, from serving around Milwaukee to week-long mission trips. Contact Rev. Teresa Larson for information on upcoming opportunities.

Students in 10th and 11th grade are invited to participate in confirmation, a nine-month process of exploring faith through worship, study, and service. Immanuel’s confirmation program is geared toward older youth and focuses on issues of belief, values, and identity. The next confirmation class will be offered beginning in September 2026.
