Putting Faith to Work:

         Opportunities for Mission and Service

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is responding to the recent cyclone in Myanmar and earthquake in China by working with our overseas church partners, including Church World Service and the Amity Foundation, to offer immediate, on-the-ground help and make preparations for long-term assistance.  Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has made contributions from the One Great Hour of Sharing offering, and special funds have been set up to collect additional donations for relief efforts.  Individual contributions may be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Please designate your contribution by noting “Myanmar and China” in the memo line of your check. If you would prefer to contribute directly to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, you may do so on the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) website, www.pcusa.org/pda.

Eighteen members and friends of Immanuel Church will participate in a mission trip to Zambia June 16 to 30.  Immanuel members and friends are invited to keep the Mission Team in your thoughts and prayers as they renew connections in Zambia and make this journey on the congregation's behalf.  They will report on their visit in the fall.  For more information go to:  http://www.immanuelwi.org/AfricaMission08.html

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity’s “House Raising Week” is scheduled the week of June 23-27.  If you are interested in being part of an Immanuel building team, please contact Ms. Dow in the church office (414-276-4757).

A group of Presbyterians volunteers with Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  People with all levels of experience are welcome. For more information, contact Jean Dow in the church office (414-276-4757).

Members and friends who are interested in learning more about how to be involved in one of the YMCA's mentoring programs are invited to contact the church office (414-276-4757).  These programs offer an opportunity to make a difference in the life of an MPS student.  There are brochures available on the Great Hall tables.
