INTERCHANGE
Immanuel is part of a coalition of lower east side Milwaukee churches called INTERCHANGE that came together in 1970 to address a variety of neighborhood and community concerns through cooperative efforts.
Early efforts dealt with youth drug abuse, runaways, women's consciousness raising and health care, child care for working mothers, neighborhood children's programs, summer day camps, and moved on to programs for the elderly, a well-baby clinic, a health screening clinic, advocacy for senior citizens, a combined Good Friday service, overflow shelters for homeless people, and a Habitat for Humanity work team.
Currently Interchange sponsors:

An ecumenical THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE.

Members of the participating churches volunteer their time and energy to these programs and to service on the board of directors of Interchange. The board consists of two lay persons and one clergy person from each church/group.
