Who We Are

Meet some of Immanuel’s members . . .

“We love Immanuel because we are challenged, inspired, informed, enriched, supported and engaged by the worship and programs.  We enjoy sharing labors and efforts in mission, outreach, fellowship, growth, understanding and interpretation of the Bible and teachings of Jesus with pastors and friends in the Immanuel community.  We have invested our talents and means in the work of the church and truly feel Immanuel is as much a part of us as we are a part of the church.  Although we have moved 35 miles away to Golden Lake in the Town of Summit, Immanuel continues to be our church home.”
               ~Dave and Kate

“As lifelong Presbyterians, we felt drawn to Immanuel because of its strong sense of tradition in worship and its emphasis on education and mission to face the contemporary challenges affecting Christians.  But we also were drawn by the people of Immanuel.  This diverse group of Christians is warm and welcoming, eager to lend a hand, participate in education programs for kids, bake a casserole for a fellow member in need, or help build a house for our neighbors in Milwaukee.  As members of this extremely giving community of faith, we feel blessed to share our lives with our Immanuel friends and hope that our children will learn the acceptance and generosity that is part of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.”

“Immanuel Presbyterian Church means sanctuary to me.  In its worship, education, and mission, Immanuel Church is a place of welcome, encouragement, and unconditional acceptance, a place where each person is recognized and valued.  Within the shelter of this church community I have experienced spiritual nurture and guidance.  I have learned that service is participation.  As a choir member, I participate actively in worship; as a Deacon, I participate in the lives of Immanuel's family:  staying in touch with seniors and college students, comforting the bereaved and celebrating new births.  Participation at Immanuel Church stimulates mind and soul and nudges me toward an awareness of my purpose in God's eyes.”

“Immanuel Presbyterian Church has become an important part of our lives.  We value the ministry provided by the leaders of the church.  We particularly enjoy the intellectual curiosity of the congregation and find ourselves consistently stimulated by the messages delivered by the ministers and by the programs offered at Immanuel.  We are impressed by the importance of mission at Immanuel and by the level of participation by church members in that mission.   As a result, we have participated in church activities and formed friendships that have had a lasting impression on us.”
~Jenny and Tim, Stephen and Whitney

“Recently I’ve come to realize what Immanuel Presbyterian Church has really meant to me my whole life.  Though I can’t remember it, I frequently hear stories of my adventures in the church nursery and around the church since the time I could walk, as I was nurtured and supported by loving members of the church exemplifying God’s love.  I continue to grow spiritually in the high school youth group, having graduated from Church School and before moving on to Confimation.  Having experienced other churches and different worship styles lately has brought me to a new realization—when I’m not at Immanuel on Sunday morning I have a kind of “home church withdrawal.”  I could never imagine another place where the sermons and lessons are so thoughtful, the music so magnificent, and the people so loving.”
               ~Elizabeth

“Like many people during their college days, I went through an enormous period of self discovery and found that the religion that I had been raised in no longer fit who I had become, and I stopped going to church. However, belonging to a faith community and coming together to worship was something I missed a great deal, and in my early thirties I really longed to worship with others.  I didn’t know how to start rediscovering religion even though I had always had a strong faith in God.  It was then that I was first introduced to Immanuel Church by a dear friend who invited me to join him for worship during the Christmas season.  I returned to Immanuel every Sunday for the next year, and soon became a member.  The congregation has given me the strength to move forward during difficult times in my life and the ability to celebrate all of life’s gifts.  I will always be grateful for the vital role Immanuel has played in my life.  My faith in God has never been stronger.”
               ~John
