The Parish Life Council

Celebrating Our Life Together

The purpose of the Parish Life Council is to employ hospitality, the arts, and congregational events and celebrations to build toward inclusive community at Immanuel Church.

The Council is supported by three coordinators:

  • The HOSPITALITY COORDINATORS do much of the work that says, “Welcome!” to the members and friends of Immanuel.  The coordinators recruit hosts for the weekly coffee hours and plan and host events like the Christmas dessert buffet.  The hospitality coordinators are Connie Cohan and Kathy Brumder. • The FINE ARTS COORDINATOR plans events that express the faith through music, art and drama.  Concerts, exhibits, and theater outings are offered.  The fine arts coordinator is Carrie Van Hallgren.
  • The SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATORS organize events that enhance our life together with seasonal gatherings such as the September Ice Cream Social, a Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the church, and a pre-Lent Pancake Brunch.  Outings and picnics also give members a chance to enhance the bonds of community through friendship -- and fun!  The special events coordinators are Pat Parks and Phyllis Stuart-Jacobson.

The Council is comprised of the coordinators and several members at large from the congregation:  Emily Bach, Mary Bowers, Judy Christofferson, Rick Hanney, Nancy Konrad, Bob Schweers, Judith Stevenson, and Nathan Wesselowski.  Interested persons are invited to serve on the council for a two-year term; members are also recruited to help with particular projects of the Council on a one-time basis.  The Parish Life Council seeks to maximize involvement and participation.  If you're interested in serving on the council or helping with a specific program, don’t wait for a formal invitation, let one of the coordinators or ministers know.
