AFRICA MISSION TRIP
June 16 to 30, 2008
Mwandi, Zambia
On June 30, eighteen members and friends of Immanuel Church returned home safely from a two-week journey to Zambia, where they renewed Immanuel's long-time connection with the people in the village of Mwandi and the mission high school and hospital there.
Mwandi is located in southwestern Zambia, just across the Zambezi River from Namibia. Until now, high school students have had to attend a school in Sesheke, more than 30 miles from Mwandi – and because of the cost, a high school education has been out of reach for many qualified students. On May 16, a special Immanuel event was held to raise funds for educational scholarships for the new Mwandi High School that is currently being built.
Thanks to the help of Immanuel members and friends, medical and school supplies were collected and packed in suitcases to accompany the mission team. The team will report on their visit in the fall. Stay tuned for pictures.
