“Singing on Our Way”

Annual Advent Workshop

   Sunday, November 29

          11:15 - 1:00

   in the Upper Room

Members of all ages are invited to participate in Immanuel’s annual Advent Workshop, which will be held on Sunday, November 29 from 11:15 until 1:00 in the Upper Room.  As always, there will be a variety of activities reflecting and celebrating the meanings of the season, in which we await the coming of the Christ Child.  The Advent theme this year is “Singing on Our Way,” and workshop activities will focus on the gift of music and song that we enjoy at this time of year, as we make our way to the manger.  The main activity at the workshop each year is making an Advent wreath, so that each household can join the congregation in marking the weeks of Advent.  You might choose this year to sing a carol each time you light one of the candles!  There will be activities for our younger members, as well as for the more experienced.

Please let the planners know how many in your household will be participating by signing up on the sheets in the Parlor so that we can be sure to have sufficient materials and food.  You can also help by bringing:

  • wire wreath ring with candle holders from previous year (if you have one; or $6.00 to purchase one)
  • $5.00 minimum contribution per wreath for supplies (greens, ribbons, four candles)
  • a pair of scissors (labeled with your name)
  • clippers for greens (labeled with your name)
  • a friend (this is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to Immanuel Church!)
  • a sliced loaf of holiday bread, a plate of cheese and crackers, or some fruit for the refreshments table (the Church School Committee will provide coffee, juice, and milk)
  • something for the Christ Presbyterian Church Christmas Store: toys, books, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves

Do plan to join us for this wonderful intergenerational event!
