2011 Advent Booklet

Looking forward to our 175th anniversary;

Looking back to

“Christmas Through the Years”

Christ is born into the concreteness of the church’s story.  In its beginning, the first members of First Presbyterian Church were dreaming of having a church in their frontier community.  In December of 1870, a church divided before the Civil War reunited and chose a new name, “Immanuel.” In its centennial year, Immanuel faced the challenges of re-building after the Great Depression, and in 1987 resolved to “keep faith in the city.”  Christmas Through the Years is a collection of members’ traditions and reflections for daily reading from November 27 through December 24.   Booklets are available on the Great Hall tables on Sunday mornings throughout Advent.  You may also wish to download a pdf copy for your desktop or mobile device.  Contact Ms. Richter at ipc@immanuelwi.org if you would like one mailed to your home.
